Notes: Scruffy is a Chihuahua X who was one of 16 dogs rescued from a single family home. The dogs were not socialized and Scruffy had a broken jaw. His jaw has been repaired and he is now waiting for a special someone to make him a part of their family. Scruffy will run around the house and try to get the other dogs to play with him. He will need a playful and easy-going dog in the home who will not only play with him but show him the ropes and give him confidence. His foster mom has been allowing him to approach her at his own pace so he can slowly learn to trust. He will come when called, but will still keep his distance. He is sort of house trained as he will go outside via a doggie door, but if it is raining or has no way to go out he will do it inside without warning. His foster mom is using training pads when he cannot get outside. If you have the love and patience that Scruffy needs to continue to learn to trust, fill out an application to meet him.

Canine Adoption and Rescue League is an IRS 501(c)(3) Private Non-Profit No-Kill Organization. We rely on donations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. We operate almost entirely by volunteers. Since 1996, Canine Adoption and Rescue League has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned, and homeless dogs. Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our dogs. We are also a sanctuary for those dogs that don’t get adopted, including a Senior Dog Rescue Program which provides food, shelter, and medical care for elderly dogs in the animal shelter that because of age and medical issues are least likely to be adopted.
