Notes: From Roudy’s foster: Roudy is a sweet and lively little guy. While he does not like being picked up but once he trusts you he is affectionate and vocal when he wants your attention. He loves to be tickled under the chin and long sweeping pets along his sides. Likes to play with very small toys (cat stuffed mouse is his favorite) but does not like to share. He does fine with other dogs small and large but at first is a bit snappy so definitely introduce cautiously. We do not have cats, so no information on how he is with them. He would be better with no children under the age of 12 since he can be temperamental when he does not want to be bothered. All in all he is just a joy to have around. He is not house trained, but is getting better at using the pee pads. We have not taken him for a walk, because he is not fond of a collar or harness and it was difficult getting either on so have not pressed that issue. He has absolutely the most adorable tiny sounding bark!

Hartman’s Haven Dog Rescue is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, all-volunteer, all-donation supported rescue for unwanted and homeless dogs (and sometimes cats) in Catawba County. We mainly rescue dogs in need from the Catawba County Animal Control. Large breed dogs are our specialty, but we love them all and occasionally have other sizes. We do not have a shelter, and operate solely out of a very small network of foster homes. All our dogs are spayed or neutered, heartworm tested (if over 6 months), up to date on their vaccinations, dewormed, crate trained, and started on their housebreaking skills. We do require that all dogs be kept indoors and all pets in the home be vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and kept on flea and heartworm prevention
Adoption fees often do not cover the costs associated with the proper care of our rescues. We need the financial support for our rescues to help them find happy and healthy homes.
